The year 1827. The city of Magdeburg in Germany. In this year Ludwig Carl Friedrich Dedloid was born. Growing up, he learned what the quarrels between his mother and father were, and he had a very troubled childhood. The relatives who loved Carl put him in an orphanage to keep him away from these sufferings. Carl stayed there until the age of 12. Here too they mistreated him and beat him without regard for the necessary pedagogy. Carl decided to run away, and one night he fled and reached Hamburg. In Hamburg he finds work on one of the merchant ships. After 4 months at sea, the ship passes through the Bosphorus… Carl, looking at the sea, sees from afar the Tower of Leander (Kız Kulesi). When the ship approaches the tower, Carl jumps into the sea and swims with all his strength to the tower. At that time the tower served to confine lepers. They catch Carl and take him before Emin Ali Pasha. The Pasha asks him: why did you flee from the ship? Carl answers: they were beating me and treating me very badly. The Pasha asks him again: you have been at sea for 4 months, why Istanbul? The boy shows him the tower and says: because of this tower. I liked this tower very much.
Of course the news that the boy threw himself into the sea in the Bosphorus reached Germany, and they ask Emin Ali Pasha to send Carl back. Ali Emin Pasha decides not to hand over the boy and becomes Carl's protector… The Pasha changes Carl's name and calls him Mehmet Ali. Mehmet Ali studies and becomes a soldier up to the rank of Pasha. He has a career full of bravery and represents the Ottoman Empire in many important cases. He marries and has 4 daughters. One of them is called Leyla Hanım. Leyla Hanım had a daughter named Celile. Celile is the mother of NAZIM HİKMET. One must know that Nazım Hikmet was the great-grandson of Ludwig Carl, Mehmet Ali Pasha. The 3rd of June was the day of commemoration of the death of Nazım Hikmet… This story has another continuation.
Nazım Hikmet was born in Salonika. We know that Nazım Hikmet entered prison in 1938. The reason was reading a poem that was written by one of his friends, Ömer Deniz, from the military school. One day the two went to the cinema. Leaving the cinema, his friend Ömer asked Nazım to read the poem he had written. This was the reason the two went to prison. After 7 years Ömer came out of prison and decided to study law to become a lawyer. As he had no money, he opened a small shop in Fatih to make wooden toys. With the income he paid for his studies and lived in this way.
One day a boy of 7 or 8 enters Ömer's shop and asks him whether he could work beside him. Ömer takes pity on the boy and accepts that he work beside him. One day the boy asked Ömer to make him a few toys and little dolls (puppets). The boy takes the puppets to his school and gives a presentation to his friends. This boy is called MÜJDAT GEZEN. Life is a novel of thousands of pages and an endless music that touches our heart deeply.
